An Inexpensive, Scalable Vector Modulator and Application to 2D RF Pulses

چکیده
It has previously been reported the use of vector modulators for B1 shimming . In that application, all vector modulators were fed with the same RF pulse, and vector modulators were used to vary the overall phases and amplitudes of the RF pulses for each channel. Other groups have also reported the use of vector modulators for MRI parallel transmission . Besides the reported application in “static modulation”, the vector modulator system is also fully capable of high speed modulation for more complex transmit pulses. 2D pulses have interesting applications such as curved slice selective excitation [3] and spin labeling . By providing the vector modulators with a hard pulse from a Varian Inova system, and generating complex analog modulation control signals from an eight channel D/A card, we were able to output four totally independent RF waveforms. Results shows that the system generates 2D pulses or phase modulated slice selective pulses that perform comparably to the modulator in the host Inova console.

A Hysteretic Two-phase Supply Modulator for Envelope Tracking RF Power Amplifiers
In this paper a two-phase supply modulator suitable for envelope tracking power amplifier is presented. The designed supply modulator has the linear assisted switching architecture. Two-phase architecture is used in order to reduce the output switching ripples. The proposed architecture uses hysteretic control instead of pulse width modulation (PWM) which significantly reduces the circuit compl...
متن کاملImprovement of RF Vector Modulator Performance by Feed-forward Based Calibration
RF Vector Modulator enables independent control of a narrowband RF signal amplitude and phase. Unfortunately practical realization of an analog vector modulator suffers from misbalances and imperfections in the I and Q signal paths. Use of a feed-forward based calibration can compensate for them and significantly improve RF performance and control accuracy of a real vector modulator. Achieved i...
متن کاملFast Spin-Echo Imaging of Inner Field-of-Views Using 2D-Selective RF Excitations
Introduction Image blurring due to the signal decay along the echo train as well as the RF energy deposited by the refocusing RF pulses limit the applicability of high turbo factors, i.e. a large number of echoes per shot, in fast spin-echo imaging [1], in particular at higher static magnetic fields. In this work, 2D-selective RF (2DRF) excitations [2,3]are used to focus the field-of-view (FOV)...

N. P. Davies, P. Jezzard Centre for Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the Brain, University of Oxford, Oxford, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom Introduction It is well known that concealed time delays often exist between the application of a gradient waveform and the response of the gradient coils. Furthermore, there are often relative offsets in the physical delays that relate to each gradie...

Ultra-short pulse is a promising technology for achieving ultra-high data rate transmission which is required to follow the increased demand of data transport over an optical communication system. Therefore, the propagation of such type of pulses and the effects that it may suffer during its transmission through an optical waveguide has received a great deal of attention in the recent years. We...
